How can I get more involved with West Patent Elementary School?
Please visit the Committees link on the WPESA website and contact the Chair of the committee you are interested in volunteering. Attend a WPESA meeting to find out more about events taking place, and opportunities for you to help out. There are many events and activities that require little time commitment and/or allow for you to do the work at home on your own schedule.
I am new to the area and want to meet other parents?
Well first off, welcome to West Patent and to the neighborhood. Be sure to sign up for classroom parent so you can receive our bi-weekly e-mail for dates and locations of upcoming events. Reach out to anyone on steering committee to put put in touch with someone in your child's grade. Volunteering with WPESA is another great way to meet fellow WPES parents.
Am I allowed to bring a treat in to my child's class to celebrate his/her birthday?
No, currently food items are not allowed for birthday or holiday celebrations. Birthday celebrations vary by grade, so please reach out to your class parent for further information.
Can my child bring his/her snow pants to school for recess?
Children are allowed to bring their snow clothes (pants, boots, hats, etc.) to school. If they are prepared with this clothing and can independently put on/take off their snow apparel, they will be allowed to play in the snow during recess. Please make sure all apparel is labeled with your childs name.
How do I contact the school?
You may contact West Patent Elementary School by calling 914-666-2190 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The mailing address is 80 West Patent Road, Bedford Hills, NY 10507.
What is the best way to communicate with my child's teacher?
Please ask your child's teacher regarding the best way to contact him/her (voice mail, e-mail, etc.). You can always call the main office and leave a message.
How will I know when school is closed or delayed for emergency reasons or inclement weather?
Parent Square is the district's new communication tool. It will be used for school-wide communications, district communications, emergency alerts and more. You can also listen to the local radio stations and/or check the district web site (www.bcsdny.org) to find out if there is a school closing or delay. The decision to close or delay school is typically made by 6:00 AM.
